About the Course

English Literature is a rich and diverse academic course. It encompasses British literature, American literature, Indian literature, Caribbean literature, World literature and others within its ambit. As an academic course, it  explores the written works of authors from different historical periods, cultures, and genres. The course typically involves the study of novels, plays, poetry, and essays written in or translated to the English language . The course helps students develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and an appreciation for literary artistry.

Course Outcome

The courses will help the students to:
1. Demonstrate a coherent and systematic knowledge and understanding of the field of
literary and theoretical developments in the field of English Studies and English
Studies in India.
2. Demonstrate the ability to understand the role of literature in a changing world from
the disciplinary perspective as well as in relation to its professional and everyday use.
3. Recognise the scope of English studies in terms of career opportunities, employment
and lifelong engagement in teaching, publishing, media, soft skills and other allied fields.
4. Apply subject-specific skills in language and literature to foster a larger sense of
ethical and moral responsibility among fellow humans.
